Sometimes I notice my chronic pelvic pain is worse at night, wakes me up at night, and then I start moaning, from the pain. What can cause it to be worse at night like this? I have symptoms that are possible from endometriosis, but not diagnosed yet.
For an example: I just recently had my period end, but the chronic pain is still there, and last night(very early morning around 2 or 3am 7/18/22) is when the pain was noticeably worse.
Without a formal evaluation, it is hard to know exactly what the cause of your pain is and why at night. From a PT perspective, something I would be more curious to know about is your bed – is it firm or soft? Memory foam? Old, new? Because endo causes a lot of myofascial restrictions, when we are in any prolonged position (like sleeping) can be problematic, especially if the surface is not as supportive.
Hello. This is a tricky question and definitely asks for multidisciplinary approach as pain worsening during night could happen for different conditions, like endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary tract conditions, vascular conditions and gastrointestinal conditions as well.
In case of endometriosis the reasons why pain is worsening during night can be many.
Apart from seeing specialist, I would recommend of sleep position changes, try pelvic relaxation exercises before bed.
