How do I know if a doctor is experienced in excision surgery of endometriosis if they are not vetted through iCareBetter?

Thank you for your question. You should review the doctor based on these criteria:

  1. Training: Does this doctor have training in endometriosis surgery at renowned centers with top endometriosis doctors?
  2. Endorsements: Does this doctor have endometriosis-specific reviews on public resources, such as Google or their website?
  3. Volume: Does this surgeon have high enough surgical volume (typically 50+ per year)
  4. Team: Does this doctor have a multidisciplinary team in place that helps him in surgery (colorectal surgeon, urologist, etc) and after surgery (PT, diet, pain)?

If a surgeon checks most of the boxes, then they might be considered an expert in endometriosis surgery.
