Is surgery important to do?

Hello, I received a clinical endometriosis diagnosis based on my symptoms (bad periods, throwing up, etc) and I am at a loss of what to do next. The doctor diagnosed me Sylnd but I’m not sure if I should do the surgery (I know this is the only way to definitely know my results). What do you recommend? Does surgery help with fertility? Do you have recommendations for surgeons in NYC?

You don’t need to rush into surgery—many patients with Endometriosis can start with medical therapy unless symptoms are severe or fertility is a priority. Surgery can help with pain and sometimes fertility, and it is the only way to definitively confirm the diagnosis by sending tissue for pathology; imaging can identify deep disease but may miss superficial lesions.
